If you're a woman who lives by the sea shore or enjoy going to beaches, then you'll most likely be wearing swimwear alot over the summer months.  Fortunately most oceans tend to be free of chemicals detrimental to the fibers and color of womens swimwear, however, if you're a woman who uses swimming pools alot, you'll soon realize that the swimsuits wear more quickly and that the color fades.

The reason for this is due to the chemicals and chlorine added to swimming pools, and while this is beneficial for preventing germs and bacteria, it is not good for your swimwear, particularly the chlorine, which is what you use to bleach your white clothing.  Basically, whenever you're swimming in the pool wearing your favorite bikini, you're pretty much bleaching it, causing the color to fade, although via a more diluted concentration than you use in your wash.

The best swimwear for wearing in swimming pools is those made out of polyester as this material lasts longer than others when repeatedly worn in swimming pools.

To help your swimwear last longer, the first thing you want to do when you buy a new swimsuit is to soak it in cold water with some vinegar, and let it soak for a day.   This will preserve the color and prevent fading.

When you're finished swimming, you should wash your swimwear immediately to prevent the chlorine and swimming pool chemicals from drying up and affecting the fibers and color of your swimsuit.
